Why Kabuni Exists: More Playtime. Less Screentime.

I sometimes think about how different growing up feels today.

For so many of us, play was just part of life. You finished school, found your friends, picked up a bat or a ball and figured out the rest. Nobody needed to organise it. Nobody needed to remind you to do it. You just played.

Today, childhood looks different.

There’s a screen everywhere. And while technology has given young people incredible opportunities to learn and connect, I think we’ve lost a little bit of something along the way.

The simple joy of going outside and playing.

That thought has stayed with me, because I don't believe the answer is to fight technology. Technology isn't going anywhere, and it shouldn't.

The question is: can we make it work differently?

Can we use technology to get a child excited about picking up a bat? Can it help them understand their game, learn from someone they admire, find a team and then actually go outside and play?

That's the idea Kabuni was built around.

We're starting with cricket because cricket teaches you things that are difficult to learn from a screen.

You learn to be part of a team. You learn what it feels like to fail in front of people and come back again. You learn to celebrate someone else's success. You learn patience, confidence, pressure and resilience.

And somewhere in between all of that, you make friends and memories you carry with you long after you've forgotten the score.

That's what I want Kabuni to create more of.

Yes, we're building technology. We're building teams, competitions and experiences. We're working with some incredible people in cricket.

But none of those things are the end goal.

The end goal is much simpler.

A child closes the screen.

Picks up a bat.

Calls their friends.

And goes outside to play.

If Kabuni can make that happen more often, then we're building something that matters.

More playtime. Less screentime.

That's where this all started.
